I doubt there's a person in this country who hasn't watched at least one episode of The Simpsons. The show has been running since 1987 (over 36 years), so you would think that the show has probably covered just about every topic/subject, right? I thought it might be interesting to look at some of the times North Dakota came up on the show. Let's take a look.

"Kill the Alligator and Run" (Season 11, Ep. 19)

North Dakota once came up in season 11, episode 19, called "Kill the Alligator." After an unfortunate series of events, the Simpson family had been banned from all other states, so they talked about vacationing in North Dakota, as it's the only option they have left. They keep this as a running gag throughout the series and later seasons, according to SimpsonsFandom.com.

"Simpson and Delilah" (Season 2, Ep. 2)

This episode goes all the way back to season 2, episode 2, when the characters look wildly different. Homer goes on a game show and is asked what the capital of North Dakota is named after. He gets the answer wrong...way wrong.

"HOMR" (Season 19, Ep. 9)

In this episode, North Dakota is barely mentioned. It reinforces the idea that North Dakota is hardly ever visited. In fairness, we aren't known for being a travel destination. That is accurate. No hard feelings.

Those are just some of the many mentions North Dakota has gotten over the years. If you have time, go back and check out those episodes for a good laugh. You can stream The Simpsons right now on Hulu and Disney +
