Sweltering Triple Digit Heatwave Coming Soon To North Dakota
By this time last year, we had already had several 100-plus degree days in Bismarck. That was a sign of things to come as 90 degrees plus heat was the norm for most of the summer last year and lasted well into September. Of course, we were also in the middle of a pretty significant drought that lasted for over two-plus years.
Thankfully, the drought is over so triple-digit heat shouldn't be the norm this summer. I know that sure was hard on our air conditioners and our pocketbooks for that matter. That doesn't mean we won't see a few bouts with 100-degree heat and that's what we're looking at this coming weekend. Just in time for the PBR & Father's Day.
According to the forecast from the National Weather Service, the Bismarck Mandan area will see temperatures flirting with 100 degrees starting Saturday, June 19th and it will continue through Father's Day June 20th. Both Friday before the weekend and Monday after the weekend will see highs around 90. Overnight lows on all four of those days will be around 70 degrees, so again, you are going to want to make sure your air conditioner is in working condition, otherwise, a weekend call for service could really cost you.
With gas prices flirting with $5 dollars a gallon, more and more people will be staying home this summer, rather than opting for going to the lake or family vacations. Fill up that baby pool in your backyard or maybe head down to a sandbar on the river to cool off. Either way, enjoy it. Summer goes by pretty fast.
