After being lost due to budget cuts, UND is looking to save their men's golf team with a new funding plan.

In April, the University of North Dakota announced it would be cutting both men's golf and baseball from its athletics due to state budget cuts. However, the golf program has most recently submitted a plan to raise funds, which was approved just this past Wednesday by Interim UND President Ed Schafer.

The team has an August 30 deadline to raise enough money to save their team so they can compete in the 2016-2017 season. A fundraising deadline for the 2017-2018 season has been set for June 1, 2017. Schafer says the new plan allows for an endowment that will ensure play for the golf program beyond 2018.
