These Small ND Cities Were Named 2022’s ‘Best To Live In’
While North Dakota might not have all the glitz and glamour of a brightly lit, big city, that doesn't mean we don't have amazing places to live.
As a matter of fact, a study was done by WalletHub; it found that several small towns in North Dakota are some of the best places for people to live.
In order to compile this list, they looked at metrics such as housing costs, the quality of the school systems, and even volume of restaurants.
Fun Fact:
According to WalletHub, 46 percent of people in the United States say they would prefer living in a smaller city, rather than a big one.
Pro's & Cons
There are a million reasons smaller cities far outweigh the appeal of larger ones. First, they are more affordable. Second, there's less congestion. Not only that, but there's better scenery, and just a general ease of living. You get to know people better in smaller cities, and really build stronger relationships with the community. Or, at least that's my opinion.
North Dakota Small Cities Make It To The Top
Four different North Dakota cities made it to the top of the list for 2022's Best Small Cities in America.
Williston
You might be surprised to hear this, but Williston ranked the highest among all four; it came in at number 25.
Williston is full of coffee shops, parks, jobs in the oil industry. These things helped to make it rank close to the top of the list.
Grand Forks
Grand Forks came in at number 51 on WalletHub's list. Walking and hiking trails, art museums, with a bit of a college-town feel (UND), -- it's no surprise that Grand Forks made the list.
Bismarck
Yep, Bismarck made the list too. The Capital city ranked at number 64 on 2022's Best Small Cities in America. For starters, it's the Capital of North Dakota; there's tons of fun things to do here, places to shop, parks to visit, and great, historic places to live. While Bismarck is the Capital of the state, it still has a very small-town feel.
West Fargo
The last North Dakota city on the list of the best is West Fargo. It came in at number 99. -- Not too shabby. West Fargo is home to NDSU, and people live for the college athletics in the town. It's a fun place to live with a great Go-Fight-Win atmosphere. We love our NDSU Bison.
