North Dakota shoppers are about to get the checkout option they've been waiting for. Walmart just announced today (Friday, August 21st) that starting August 24th, tap-to-pay will start rolling out across the country at their Walmart and Sam's Club grocery stores.

Walmart To Soon Offer Tap-to-Pay

This means you can pay with a contactless credit or debit card. No more digging through your purse or wallet, feeling anxious about holding up the line behind you - Apple Pay and Google Pay are payment options soon to be added.

When we think about convenience, we think about a lot of things, but making shopping feel simpler and more seamless from start to finish is a big part. And one of the moments where that matters most is at checkout.

When Will North Dakota Stores Get Tap-to-Pay?

We haven't heard which North Dakota stores will get tap-to-pay first, but we can probably assume it might take a little longer for it to roll out across North Dakota. That said, the company says it plans to update all U.S. Walmart stores and Sam's Club locations with the payment option by the end of 2026, and its fuel locations by mid-2027.

Tap-to-Pay More Convenient?

If there's one thing we know, it's that carrying physical cash is almost completely a thing of the past. I don't know about you, but I can't remember the last time I withdrew cash from an ATM. The good news is that most places you go offer tap to pay (Apple Pay or Google Pay), though one retail juggernaut has been painfully slow to adopt it. Now, it looks like the wait is finally over. Do you think this will make checking out easier and more convenient? Let us know in the app.
