President Barack Obama is scheduled to make his first trip to North Dakota on Friday since being elected president. He will be the first sitting president since 1999 to visit an Indian reservation when he travels to the Standing Rock Indian Reservation on Friday afternoon.

Obama is scheduled to land at the Bismarck Airport early Friday afternoon and travel to Cannon Ball, where he will participate in the tribe's Flag Day celebration. He will leave approximately four hours after his arrival. First Lady Michelle Obama is also expected to be in attendance.

The White House has released the following schedule for the President's visit:

  • 1:45pm - The President and First Lady arrive Bismarck, North Dakota
  • 2:40pm - The President and First Lady participate in a roundtable discussion with Native American Youth
  • 3:45pm - The President and First Lady attend the Cannon Ball Flag Day Celebration; the President delivers remarks
  • 5:20pm - The President and First Lady depart Bismarck, North Dakota en route Palm Springs, California
