A Winter Storm Watch and High Wind Watch have been issued for a large portion of the state as both weather alerts will begin on Sunday and continue on into Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Bismarck, the Winter Storm Watch and High Wind Watch will go from noon on Sunday (January 27th) until noon on Monday (January 28th).

Winds in western portions of the state are forecasted to reach up to 60 miles per hour on Sunday. Blizzard conditions are possible and forecasted snow accumulations are between 3 and 7 inches. Wind chills for Sunday into Monday are expected to be around -25. The conditions will certainly make for hazardous travel on the roads.

As for today and tonight, chances of snow this afternoon are 60 percent and for tonight, 80 percent. Snow accumulations around 1 to 3 inches are in tonight's forecast. High temperatures will be around 20 this afternoon with a low around 8 expected tonight.
