As the last day of school rapidly approaches, it is time to start planning outings that are fun and will keep your child away from the TV and video games this summer!

  • Dakota Zoo

The Dakota Zoo is a great place to take the kids on a sunny afternoon.

Get an up close and personal view of the 600 animals, birds, reptiles and fish that call The Dakota Zoo home. There are even certain species you can feed and touch!

For those of you with younger children that may have trouble keeping up with all the excitement, bring your stroller or catch the train which gives a tour of the whole zoo!

Summer hours and events can be found on the Dakota Zoo website.

  • Raging Rivers Waterpark

Raging Rivers is not your average swimming pool, it is a full blown waterpark equipped with fun for all ages!

There is an area for the little ones while the older, more adventurous kids can take their pick between two large water slides then float down the lazy river.

Opening day is May 30 so get your season pass today!

  • Dacotah Speedway

Mandan's Dacotah Speedway is sure to bring high-speed excitement to a family night out.

The track hosts five different divisions weekly including: IMCA Modifieds, WISSOTA Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks and more!

The Demolition Derby and Monster Truck Show are only two of the special events held outside of the weekly races.

Get a schedule of all events at their website!

  • North Dakota Heritage Center

Not all summer days in Bismarck-Mandan are sunny and 75, so plan a trip to the North Dakota Heritage Center.

Two of the four galleries are now open to the public!

View North Dakota's history from the beginning as you learn about the prehistoric era. Then discover what life was like as one of the first people to inhabit North Dakota.

The Treehouse is an interactive exhibit designed for children ages pre-school - third grade. It is expected to open this summer!

Continue to visit their website for all updates on new exhibits!

The Superslide Amusement Park has been a part of our community since 1967 and it continues to provide fun for the whole family!

There is a great miniature golf course, bumper cars, ferris wheel and so much more!

The most popular activity, of course, is the superslide which gives you a great view of the entire park from the top.

You and the kids will be back for more after a day at the Superslide Amusement Park!
