A Driverless City Bus Could Be Coming To Bismarck

Don't be surprised if you see a city bus in Bismarck without a driver, according to the Bismarck Tribune, this test pilot program could be coming to the city.

The City of Bismarck is considering a pilot program testing the use of autonomous vehicle technology on the city streets. In other words, A driverless city bus.

This technology has been in the works for sometime now, and in place in other cities through out the country. Sharing ride companies are already testing the system, such as UBER.

If approved, the bus would be rented for six months from March through October 2019 at a cost between $75,000 to $85,000 with some grant funding to supplement some of the cost of the test program.

The route will be determine at a later date but are considering a route between downtown and the Capitol grounds.

The pilot program is already in place in cities such as Minneapolis and Las Vegas. Plus, I'm sure at a major airport, you've been on an airport tram or train. That too is driverless.
