Biscuits are absolutely delectable with their hard crusty exterior, their soft fluffy interior, with melted butter, warm, straight from the oven. But there can only be one best biscuit.

This may comes as a surprise, but there is something called the "International Biscuit Festival" and the next one takes place in Knoxville, Tennessee in May of 2017.

These guys know biscuits though and they have slowly but surely been mentioning the place with the best biscuits in each state. They are featuring one state per week over 50 weeks. Right now, they are at week 28.

Week 16 back in June was North Dakota's week. Apparently, The Hotel Donaldson in Fargo has the best biscuits in the state and their pastry chef spoke to the Biscuit Festival people about the biscuits which are made with only local ingredients and baked fresh daily.

If you don't want to travel all the way to Fargo and pay for the upscale hotel just to get a taste of the biscuits, you can make them yourself. Here's the recipe:

20oz ap flour

2T baking powder

2T sugar

1T salt

4oz unsalted butter

21oz buttermilk

Sift together dry ingredients. Cut in butter until mixture is consistent no lumps. For this I like to use the whip attachment on the mixer. Once combined remove from mixer and add in buttermilk by hand. Scoop out biscuit mixture and roll lightly in flour. Butter each lightly And bake 15-20 minutes at 350. Makes 24 biscuits

Mmmm…biscuits.
