Dickinson Volunteer Firefighter in Fatal Snowmobile Crash
North Dakota unfortunately lost a good Samaritan over the weekend. A Dickinson volunteer firefighter has been in a snowmobile accident that took his life.
The crash occurred Friday (Feb 19), when Levi Hammond, 36, was snowmobiling in Wyoming's Bighorn Mountains. The fire chief received word late that afternoon that Hammond had passed away.
Hammond was a volunteer firefighter for nearly three years. Just nine months ago, in May of 2015, Hammond tested for his Firefighter 1 ProBoard certification, and passed.
The Golva, North Dakota native also worked for Butler Machinery.
