The Southridge Center strip mall is in the middle of a remodel that is really changing the look of the stores.  Work began back in October of 2021 on the cement in front of the buildings.  Since then, all LED lights have been installed and work has begun on the front of each stores.  Eventually, the parking lot will be resurfaced.  Work will also begin in 2023 on the former Barnes and Nobel building where Sanford will be moving into.

I got a chance to sit down with Matt Mitzel the owner of The Rainbow shop, "A Parable Christian Store."  Matt, along with his wife Sara Mitzel are co-owners of the store.  Matt is also the store manager.  The store is locally owned and managed and has been around for 39 years on October 1st.  It's one of the oldest stores in the Southridge Center but it hasn't always been in that location.

Rainbow shop started out in the Kirkwood Plaza back in October of 1983.  After 5 years, it changed locations to a bigger location in the mall.  After another 7 years in that location in Kirkwood, the Rainbow Shop moved to its current location in October of 1995.

This is a very busy time for the Rainbow Shop, with first communions, Mother's Day, confirmation, and graduation.  Their store hours are 10 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am to 6 pm on Saturdays.  Rainbow Shop is closed on Sundays.

Some other stores in the Southridge Center include Midco, A T&T, Sanford in 2023, and others.  All stores in the strip mall have remained open during the renovation.  Renovations should be completed by this summer.
