Former Fargo Area Catholic Priest Gets Jail Time For Abuse
According to Bismarck Tribune, a former Catholic priest was sentenced to 20 years for his abuse to children while wearing the collar while in service in the Fargo Diocese.
Fernando Sayasaya will serve 20 years for his conviction on two charges of gross sexual imposition. Sayasaya pleaded guilty to these charges in May. He first pleaded not guilty but later changed his plea in court. He must also register as a convicted sex offender.
Sayasaya was associate pastor at St. Mary's Cathedral in Fargo and also served at the Blessed Sacrament in West Fargo.
The complainants said Sayasaya touched boys under the age 15 on several occasions at his apartment. One of the boys went as far as to say Sayasaya gave him alcohol and showed pornographic movies while on a visit.
