While former North Dakota State University quarterback Brock Jensen may be out of the NFL for the time being, his football dreams aren't completely over just yet.

It was recently announced that Jensen will be among 38 players reporting to the Omaha Mammoths of the FXFL on Thursday. Practice for the team will begin Friday.

Truth be told, this was the first I had heard of the FXFL. Here's how the league describes itself, courtesy of FXFL.com:

The FXFL is a professional football league, which serves as a developmental platform for players, coaches and referees. Our business model places an emphasis on local marketing, cost containment and the utilization of smaller venues to better engage the fan base.

When asked about the opportunity to join the Omaha Mammoths, Jensen had this to say to Omaha.com:

It’s a great opportunity to keep playing football and to stay sharp. Because once you get out of that football realm, it’s hard to stay sharp, especially as a quarterback.

Jensen will be competing against former LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson for the Mammoths starting job.

The Mammoths first game of the season is October 8th against the Boston Brawlers.
