Governor Burgum IS NOT SHUTTING DOWN North Dakota On Friday
I am someone who LOVES to scroll through the comments section on Facebook. Yes, you see trolling and fighting, but you can actually also find information - both good and bad - in the comments. I have seen a couple of different threads about what is happening COVID-19-wise in North Dakota, and some people are confused about what Governor Burgum told us yesterday.
On October 14th, Governor Doug Burgum held a press conference where he announced that some counties' COVID-19 threat level statuses would be changed. While some counties made a closer move to the "New Normal/ Low-Risk" level, others took a step back. Sixteen counties - including Burleigh and Morton - were moved to the "High-Risk" threat level.
Yeah, that news kind of sucks. But do not always believe the first things you read on the internet. NORTH DAKOTA IS NOT CLOSING DOWN ON FRIDAY. I PROMISE YOU.
Here IS what is happening, effective Friday, October 16, 2020 AT 5:00 PM:
- BUSINESSES AND RESTAURANTS WILL HAVE TO REDUCE TO A MAX CAPACITY OF 25% OR 50 PEOPLE.
- OTHER EVENTS, LIKE OUTDOOR SPORTING EVENTS, CAN GO ON AND SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE ENCOURAGED
You can get more information on the new guidelines for the sixteen North Dakota counties here. You can get information on in-person school here.
I know, this is unnerving. We all have questions about what is happening to our world. There is misinformation being tossed around about hospital bed availability and COVID-19 threat risk levels. But I think, at this point, we can tell that Governor Burgum DOES NOT want to shut North Dakota down. But we will accurately let you know if things change.
