You have been looking for a job? You are not alone, last night I helped my best friend look for jobs across Bismarck-Mandan.

Here's a quick list of things to help you in your job search!

1) Make sure you have previous employers and all their information stored in a text file somewhere. Almost every job application asks for previous employer and their address, phone number, salary, and how long you worked there. If you are filling multiple applications out, retyping this in can be a pain. This is why having a file you can copy/paste from is helpful.

2) Make sure you write down which jobs at which companies you apply for. Last night we almost applied for the same business twice because they had to separate job openings! Writing down the companies can also be useful when you are doing follow-up phone calls.

3) Always apply for a job you think you are overqualified for. It's much easier to go in to an interview and have them say "we really think you can do more" and give you a better position than have them say "we really don't think you're right for this position" and possibly not offer you anything else.

What are some of the things you have learned while job hunting? What skills/knowledge helped you land your dream job?

From, Kalyn.
