It's that time of year again where we look back on all the businesses we lost in 2017.

It's always sad to see places we love close and the reasons places close vary from business to business. The businesses below are listed in alphabetical order.

Bob's PhotoBob's photo is technically still open at the time of this posting, but the owner Bob Dolajak said that he is ready to retire. At the end of the year, Bob's Photo will officially close.

BonanzaA staple in Mandan for years, people loved grabbing comfort food at Bonanza which offered a buffet for those who felt a hankering to stuff their face. Bonanza officially closed on July 30. A Culver's will be moving into that location.

Gr8 PlatesGr8 Plates had a fairly short run in Bismarck. Specializing in pre-prepared healthy meals that you can quickly grab, it didn't see a whole lot of traffic in the Gateway Mall. After opening in the summer of 2017, it officially closed earlier this month.

Juke Joint ComicsKnown for selling comics, action figures, board games and other speciality items, Juke Joint Comics closed its doors for good on Nov. 25. They are still active on their Facebook page however.

One World BoutiqueA staple on the corner of fifth and Main in Bismarck for 20 years, One World Boutique sold a variety of products from clothes, to jewelry to candles, scents and more. They closed their doors in the Fall.

Rue 21Rue 21 offered 'trendy clothes' at an affordable price. The company closed many stores throughout the entire country including the two locations that were in Bismarck. The stores closed in June.

Ruth MeiersAn unfortunate closing for many in the community, the emergency men's shelter left many out on the street when they closed. Many local organizations chipped in to find shelter for those who needed it.

Sears Auto CenterAlthough the Sears store at the Gateway Mall remains open, the auto center portion of the store closed in May.

Spa D'AthenaSpa D'Athena offered beauty and wellness packages and controversy regarding gift cards overwhelmed local headlines with customers wanting to be reimbursed. They closed at the end of October. However, they say they want to re-open after remodeling or moving to a new location in the Spring.

Stabo Scandinavian ImportsSpecializing in selling gifts made in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland, their location in the Kirkwood Mall closed in January. They still have a location in Fargo and a website.
