In Bismarck And Around The Country – A USPS WARNING
A recent warning from the USPS is highly suggesting we alienate an old friend
I'm not sure how many people I know here in Bismarck and Mandan STILL take the time to sit down and WRITE an actual physical letter. Then of course the die-hards now have to take the extra time to put it in an envelope - but wait there is more...
...now the hassle of tracking down a stamp, and then the final step
Finding someplace to drop your letter into, to be whisked away by a mail carrier. Our familiar USPS BLUE mailboxes ( official name is BLUE COLLECTION BINS ) - you get the idea. I can't tell you exactly WHERE, but I remember these all over the place - in San Diego, there would be like 3-4 of them - side by side. Most places, like this one in Minot, North Dakota - have just one, waiting for your arrival.
As I said earlier, MOST people I know probably haven't opened the lid to one of these in YEARS
Paying your bills or ordering something ONLINE, on a computer is pretty much the norm. Just recently USPS ( United States Postal Service ) put out a warning - in an attempt to keep whatever you were trying to mail from getting stolen by thieves. According to a press release " "The biggest variable enticing these criminals to steal are customers depositing mail into blue collection boxes after the last collection of the day or during Sundays and federal holidays."
Their suggestions are to use retail services, like inside stores - inside wall slots. I never would have thought ( but it does kind of make sense ) that a BLUE BOX tucked in the shadows somewhere overnight would be a target. So there you go.....some "Food for thought for you" ( whatever the heck that means )
