North Dakota’s Huff Hills Just Made A Major Announcement
Huff Hills, beloved by so many in the Bismarck Mandan area just made a major announcement.
Huff Hills is one of only four ski/snowboarding resorts in the state of North Dakota. The others are located in Bottineau, Walhalla, and Fort Ransom. Here's a map of the existing ski areas across the state.
Huff Hills Ski Area is located at 5455 County Road 80, just south of Mandan, North Dakota.
If you have ever driven to Prairie Knights Casino before, you drove right by the exit to Huff Hills Ski Area. It's a very picturesque road and a very scenic resort. Where I live south of Lincoln, I actually can see Huff Hills in the distance on my drive home from work, and I look forward to seeing this little gem every day.
Now, the bad news. Huff Hills just announced they are closing for good.
This was actually tipped off yesterday, according to a Facebook Post on the Bismarck Tribune page. The post claims the newspaper publication obtained an email confirming the announcement.
As of 8 am Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024, a post on the Huff Hills Ski Area Facebook page has just confirmed they will be closing for good.
A sad day indeed for ski and snowboarding enthusiasts, not only in Bismarck Mandan but in North Dakota as well. 33 years is a long time to be in business. The main reason for closing listed was not being able to obtain a long-term lease arrangement, which means they were unable to obtain the financing needed to complete their Destination Development project.
