We hate to think of any restaurant or business closing in our state; we love options when it comes to food.

That said, there's been news reports all over, talking about how several KFC locations started closing across the country.

According to Nation's Restaurant News, a number of KFC restaurants closed in midwestern states: Illinois (8), Indiana, and Wisconsin.

Closing In Our State?

Naturally we want to know if this will soon happen to any KFC locations in North Dakota.

FYI, according to kfc.com, there are nine KFC locations in our state: Bismarck, Devils Lake, Dickinson, Fargo, Grand Forks, Minot, West Fargo, and Williston.

According to NRN, the restaurants that closed were owned by one franchisee, EYM Group, and those locations will remain closed until purchased by a new owner.

In July of this year (2024) EYM Pizza filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. According to the source, this came about after the company was sued for not paying Pizza Hut royalties on time.

EYM also franchised Denny's, Panera, and Pizza Hut restaurants.

Good News?

So, are there any KFC locations in North Dakota owned by EYM?

It doesn't look like the franchisee has any stake in the chicken game here in North Dakota, so it is unlikely we will see any mass closings in North Dakota.

Yes, our North Dakota KFC chicken restaurants will in all likeliness live to see many more great days.
