Lottery Dreams
Are you dreaming about your new life after winning the lottery? Right now, that's exactly what I'm doing since learning that there was no winner drawn on Friday. I don't buy lottery tickets, except when the Mega Millions jackpot starts to trend on social media. In that case, I totally jump on the bandwagon, because, who doesn't want to win hundreds of millions?
The drawing tomorrow night is worth an estimated $372 million, which is the 14th largest prize in lottery history. Can you imagine winning that kind of cash? Sure, a big chunk of it would go to taxes, but the lump sum payout would be $251.6 million. Which means you would still be set for life, living like a Midwest Kardashian.
Though the lottery has created over 3,700 millionaires, here are some things that are more likely to happen to a person than winning the lottery:
- Die from an asteroid strike: 1 in 74,817,414
- Become a movie star: 1 in 1,505,000
- Get struck by lightning: 1 in 1,101,000
- Bowl a 300 game: 1 in 11,500
All that may be true, but my life's mission is to be a young and retired, world traveling, art collecting, animal adopting, snowbird, beach bum. And a girl has to fund her dreams somehow. You can't win if you don't play, right?
