Deputy Chief Paul Leingang of the Mandan Police Department lost his battle with cancer today, July 11th.

We are saddened to hear the news that one of Mandan's finest has passed. Leingang died on Tuesday, July 11th after battling cancer for 6 months.

According to the Bismarck Tribune, Leingang worked his way up and became the Mandan Police Department's first drug investigator and served on the state's first drug task force. His hard work and dedication to Mandan earned him the title of Deputy Chief. He served the Mandan community for 37 years.

Roughly six months ago, Leingang was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer. His love and dedication to the community was reciprocated at a benefit held at the Mandan Eagles Club. Myndnow.com states that over 1,500 people attended the benefit to show their support for the beloved police officer.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Deputy Chief Paul Leingang, along with the entire Bismarck-Mandan community.
