Mayor Bakken Urges People To Start Wearing Masks NOW!
Mayor Steve Bakken of Bismarck has launched a COVID-19 mask awareness campaign as numbers continue to spike in Bismarck and Burleigh County. The Mayor is urging individuals to wear a mask while in public to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. The Bismarck metro especially has seen a big uptick in cases.
The focus of the mask awareness and education campaign is to join together to stop the spread of COVID-19. In a telephone interview with Mayor Steve he said, "he invites everybody to mask up and join me in doing your part." "If you want our kids to go back to the school, if you want businesses to stay open, if you want to protect those who are vulnerable, its essential to wear a mask to protect one another". "By wearing a a mask when you're in public, you protect yourself and you protect others around you," said Mayor Bakken.
Steve Bakken went on to say, "The Governor has the power to shut down the state again." "We need to do our part now and turn this around quickly." "We're all in this together, let's preserve our local economy and keep our community strong." The steady and rising number of COVID-19 cases in Bismarck, prompted the formation of a task force to help slow the spread in the Bismarck-Mandan metro. Mayor Bakken also told me, "During the pandemic response, scientists have determined wearing a mask is of benefit to you, and to those around you." "There is a growing body of evidence that cloth face coverings help to prevent the person wearing the mask from spreading the coronavirus to others."
On a side note, if you're not using disposable masks, you need to wash those cloth face coverings once in awhile. Treat them like you're underwear. Your co-workers will thank you.
