Minnesota Says “NO MORE” to a Brand of Edible THC Bear Gummies

Whatever happened to the days when Gummy Bears were strictly considered candy?

Remember when that was? Seems like yesterday when they were passed around at school - if you have never seen or had one, let me describe them. According to walmart.com "Gummy bears are made by boiling sugar, citric acid, corn syrup, gelatin, flavoring, and food coloring..." Simple, easy, and all kids seem to love them (adults too.) Then, of course, people got creative and added alcohol to them to create gummy shots. Now, in today's world THC is being added to the mix and Minnesota has had enough.

What is THC?

Many people I know have dabbled with this. According to Livescience.com "THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana's psychological effects. It acts much like the cannabinoid chemicals made naturally by the body..." Much like anything that is tied into a drug if you overdo it by a foolish amount, it can have serious effects.

According to mprnews.org "The state of Minnesota is suing several companies for selling edible candies modeled after gummy bears that allegedly contained as much as 50 times the amount of THC allowed per package under state law."  Part of the lawsuit filed alleges that "Northland Vapor and Wonky Confections are selling Death by Gummy Bears edibles that contain as much as 100 milligrams of THC per serving, 20 times Minnesota’s legal limit per serving."  That's unbelievable, especially if the wrong hands (is there such a thing as the right hands?) get a hold of them. Mprnews.org says "Northland Vapor has retail operations in Bemidji and Moorhead..."
