New Bill Would Prevent Mask Mandates From Ever Happening!

The North Dakota legislature continues to give us interesting topics in 2021.  A new bill would make mask mandates a thing of the past.  At least at the state level.  According to an article on KX News, the bill would not allow the state government to ever impose a mask mandate in North Dakota again.

House Bill 1323, which was introduced by Minot Republican Rep. Jeff Hoverson, which says, "No government entity can mandate masks, only recommend them."  There was roughly 30 people showed up to hear the lawmakers state their case on one of the most polarizing topics North Dakota has ever seen.

There was even a demonstration and multiple speakers to support his opposition to masks, even though the CDC and the North Dakota Health Department say masks are one of the best ways to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Let's face it, in North Dakota we don't like to be told what to do.  We're going to fight tooth and nail on any sort of mandate.  No matter what the nature of the law is.  It's been that way for as long as I can remember, and I don't think that way of thinking is going to change anytime soon.

This bill would not affect private businesses, so local stores could still impose any restriction they deemed fit.  Hoverson said, “I’m getting way more from you guys, emails, calls, that type of thing, that this is a number one issue. This would be restricting the government."

At the end of the press conference, multiple people even applauded in support of recalling Gov. Doug Burgum.  Yep, a bitter topic for sure.
