Everyone knows North Dakotans for being two things. We are "North Dakota Nice," and we love to drink beer. I mean REALLY love to drink beer.

As a matter of fact, according to Newsweek, recent studies have shown that North Dakotans drink more beer per capita than any other U.S. state. The average North Dakotan consumes 45.8 gallons of beer over a calendar year.

Since we drink so much beer, I thought it would be interesting to see how much we pay for the average case of beer versus other states.

A study was done by VisualCapitalist.com, looking at the average cost in each state and how much we spend on our cases of beer might surprise you.

Cheapest & Most Expensive States

According to the source, buying a case of beer might cost you more than a lot of other places, but we're not the state with he most expensive beer. That title goes to Alaska, where the average case of beer is $33.62.

The second most expensive state to purchase beer is Wyoming. The average case of beer there costs 28.78.

Now, what about the cheapest state to buy beer? If you want to pay as little as possible for your beer, you better head to Illinois. This state has the cheapest cases of beer. The average cost in the state is $16.43.

Now let's look at North Dakota.

North Dakota ranks at number 16 on the list of most expensive states for beer. We're not the cheapest, no, but when you're looking at some of these other states, I think we're not doing too bad.

Hopefully you found this information interesting and useful. Now, the next time you make a liquor store run ahead of your weekend, you can take a big sigh of relief, knowing you're not paying $33 like Alaska.
