Why Adults Can’t Order Kids’ Meals At North Dakota Restaurants?
Let's say you pop into a North Dakota restaurant with your friends, but you aren't super hungry. You think to yourself, maybe I'll just get a little snack. You thumb through the menu and stumble upon the kids' meals section. You see this and think to yourself, it's perfect. I can get chicken tendies, fries, and a small drink--that's a perfect snack.
You go to place your order with the waitress, only to get the disappointing news that the restaurant doesn't allow adults to purchase kids' meals. Bummer, right? But this got me thinking; why is that the case? Why do so many North Dakota restaurants have this policy?
Sure, kids' meals are for kids, but what's the issue?
Why can't you pay a smaller price for a smaller portion?
While that makes perfect sense to me, I felt I needed to do a little digging to understand why so many restaurants have this rule in place.
According to many people who weighed in on the subject in an article published by The Independent, many restaurants price kids' meals at cost (or at a loss). The reason some North Dakota restaurants do this is to help bring in families who will also order profit-generating entrees.
After reading that, I thought, ok, that does make sense. What do you think about this age-old debate? Should North Dakota adults be able to order kids' meals? Send us a message in the app and let us know!
