North Dakota will receive a rather hefty heating assistance grant this winter, to the tune of a cool $23 million.

According to Carol Cartledge, who runs the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program in the state, that should be enough to help out every family who qualifies for assistance.

"To qualify, a household can earn up to 60 percent of the state median income. For a family of three, that's about $43,430 per year before taxes," the Bismarck Tribune reports. The amount of each individual grant will be in direct proportion to the household's total before-tax income.

About $17 million will go to the Department of Human Services, with $6 million going to North Dakota American Indian tribes.
