Record Breaking High Temperatures for Bismarck and Other NoDak Towns

The East Coast is digging out of snow, hurricane-force winds and the virtual shutdown of the city that never sleeps! New York City actually did take a little nap Monday and Tuesday nights. Even Broadway plays went dark!

New York came to a standstill due to the blizzard of 2015. (The Weather Channel has been giving these winter storms names like hurricanes are named in the hope that the name "thing" will catch on. I'm not buying it!)

While the east deals with their own issues, here in North Dakota, we had to deal with  record high temperatures. Here is what the area experienced today:

• Bismarck-Mandan had a high temperature of 51 at 3 PM today (1/27), according to the National Weather Service in Bismarck. This broke the previous record high for the day that was set in 2008 at 48 degrees
• Other records included Williston at 51 degrees and Dickinson reaching 61 degrees

The early extended forecast for the weekend was calling for another Arctic clipper to move through the state, but the forecast has been updated and now the cold snap will be frosty with a slight chance of snow, but not as cold as once forecasted early in the week.

Bismarck-Mandan will get colder temperatures this weekend with highs in the 20s Saturday and only the teens on Sunday.

The area will once again see 40 degrees Wednesday with a chance of light snow Wednesday night.
