Minot’s Roosevelt Park Zoo Is Getting A New Petting Zoo

A longtime Minot favorite that's been bringing joy to local families since 1921 is getting a fresh addition families are going to love. Here's what's coming to the zoo's west wing.

According to KFYR TV, Minot's Roosevelt Park Zoo is adding a new petting zoo to the west wing, the space that used to be the main lawn of Roosevelt Park. The zoo already has a little station where you can hand-feed the giraffes, but those who operate the zoo decided to add more interactive experiences to the park for visitors of all ages.

What Animals Will Be There?

So far, the zoo has confirmed the new space will feature Highland cows, chickens and cows, similar to Bismarck's Dakota Zoo. Zoo officials say more animals additions will be announced in the coming months, so this is likely just the start.

Making Core Childhood Memories

For a lot of us, summer trips to the zoo are the kind of things that stick with you - we pack lunches, load up the cooler and spend the whole day tracking down every animal in the park. There's nothing quite as fun as seeing all the unique creatures that live all over our planet in person. It's a core childhood memory for many of us. A new petting zoo is yet another reason to make that memory again and again.

Opening Date

As of right now, we don't know how far along they are in constructing the petting zoo space, but zoo officials are currently planning on having it completed by 2028.
