7 Secrets to a Perfect Yard Sale in North Dakota
It's getting to be that time of year where we start decluttering our lives. We are cleaning out our basements, our garages, our attics and other rooms of the house. You can take some of your items to Goodwill, or you can take your items to the dump. If however, you want to make a little money off of your items, you can host a yard sale.
Yard sales are fun, not just because you make a little money off of the items you don't want to keep anymore, but also, because you get to talk to people in your community, and you get to sit outside all day and soak up the sun.
Before you do your yard sale this season, there a few things you should keep in mind.
Have One Conversation Piece
If you want to draw people in to your yard sale, you need to have something sitting out that will catch people's eyes.
Weird paintings, giant ceramic frogs, 90s blow up bubble chairs are all good eye catchers.
Have Cash
This is an obvious one, but you need to have a bunch of small bills and change on hand so you can give people change. You don't want to come up short and miss out on a sale.
You should also keep a calculator hand, because who even knows math anymore?
Bundle
Instead of selling individual items try selling things by the bundle. This way, you can price a little higher and get rid of your junk more quickly.
Recruit Help
You should have at least one friend helping at your yard sale. You will want the company while you sit out there all day, and at some point you will have to go to the bathroom. Better not risk leaving your stuff unattended.
Accept Digital Payments
A lot of people don't carry cash. You should have your Cash App or Venmo ready to take payments.
Put Out Free Stuff
If you really want to lure people in, put a big free sign above a box of random stuff. People can't resist a free treasure.
Put Signs Everywhere
If you want people to find your yard sale, you're going to have to put up some big flashy signs all over town. Write big!
These are just a few things that will help make your rummage sale a success. Tell us your tips and tricks in the app!
