Sanford Health Adding Medical Clinic Inside Fargo South High School

This is a first for North Dakota. One of the biggest healthcare systems in the state is expanding its services once again. According to Inforum, Sanford is planning to open a new medical facility in the Fargo South High School at 1840 15th Ave. S. Construction on the new primary health center is expected to start in the Spring of 2027.

Valley News Live reported that the project's estimated at $1.4 million, and the district will spend approximately $200,000 on a new sewer line. The district will convert existing classrooms in the building's northeast corner. Under the proposed lease, Sanford will rent 3,750 sq ft inside the school for 10 years.

What Does This Mean For Fargo South Students?

The school once enrolled 1,600 students; over the years, that number has dwindled to about 900. For now, officials say this will not negatively impact the students currently attending the school. For security, separate entrances will be created between the clinic and school spaces. Officials also believe this partnership will give students interested in health fields real, authentic learning opportunities.

Right now, Sanford plans to have the facility open and fully operational by 2028.
