Devonte Nelson, 22, and Siearae Smith, 24, of Minneapolis, are in serious trouble today after being found in possession of $8,000 in stolen merchandise from the Minot Walmart.

Police first responded to a report of a stolen cell phone at the store, which eventually led to their discovery of the two suspects, who they then arrested when more missing merch was found in their car.

After a hotel room key card was found in the squad car that had transported Nelson and Smith to jail, a warrant was obtained to search the room, where they found even more stolen Walmart goods.

Minot police are cooperating with Bismarck authorities in investigating what KX News calls "more serious charges."
