The Mandan Public Library and Dykshoom Park are getting a face lift! According to a Press Release from the City of Mandan, contractor mobilization, demolition, and excavation will start this month.

The 13,000-square-foot Mandan Public Library will have upgrades and renovations including masonry restoration, new floor/ wall/ ceiling finishes, electrical upgrades, and more. But the biggest news about the library's makeover is that there will be an 8,000-square-foot  addition. Check out what is all happening with the addition:

  • A new entrance/ atrium
  • A public meeting room which will seat up to 300 people
  • Public restrooms
  • Bookmobile garage and equipment storage

Another makeover happening in Mandan will be at Dykshoorn Park. Here are the upgrades:

  • A main entrance off Fourth Avenue Northwest
  • Permanent decorative fencing
  • Shade sails in front of the band shell
  • Meandering walking paths
  • Lighting elements that tie in the history of the railroad
  • Gas fire pits
  • MORE!

The press release from the City of Mandan also had some information about library access and the Rice Bowl during construction. There will be temporary parking, library access, and book drop off will be at the west end of the building. There will also be a doorbell installed to ring for assistance. The Rice Bowl will remain open and running until their new restaurant location opens in late November or early December.
