Third Grade Girl from Dickinson Wins National Free Throw Contest
On April 22, kids from around the nation, sponsored by various Elks Lodge's competed in a national free throw contest in Chicago.
There were seven tie-breaking shoot-offs, they ultimately crowned six champions total. There were two winners in each of the three age groups.
Mickellyn Walker, a third grader at Heart River Elementary according to the Dickinson Press, hit 23 of 25 free throws to earn the shared championship title in the 8 to 9 year old division.
The other age divisions were 10 to 11 year olds and 12 to 13 year olds. In total, 72 kids competed.
Congratulations to Mickellyn who is a better free throw shooter than most players in the NBA.
