Former Mayor and City Commissioner, Mike Williams, is campaigning to open a Trader Joe's store in the Fargo community. According to Inforum, Williams wants to open the store in the former Hornbacher's Express space, at 1433 University Drive S.

Hornbacher's closed up shop back in June and has left a hole in the midtown neighborhood. Williams has been working to get a Trader Joe's in the area since 2013, but because the store's far from its distribution center and Fargo's metro population is lower than what the chain typically looks for, his request was denied.

Williams has now suggested multiple fixes and arguments for the issues raised by the company, and continues to push for the store to open.

Fargo isn't the only North Dakota city that's been begging for a Trader Joe's; many people and some city/county commissioners have expressed interest in getting the chain to open a location in the capital city.

Right now, we can't say a Trader Joe's is coming to either North Dakota city, but the demand and need seems to be there. What do you think? Should we work to bring Trader Joe's to North Dakota? Send us a message in the app if you think this is a necessary addition.
