The University of North Dakota men's hockey team's quest for an eighth NCAA championship will begin this Friday, March 25th, against Northeastern in Cincinnati.

UND enters the 2016 Division I Men's Ice Hockey Championship as the #3-seed overall and the top seed in the Midwest Regional, which takes place at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati March 25th and 26th.

The Fighting Hawks were previously ranked #1, but dropped two spots after they were unable to secure a win at the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Frozen Faceoff last weekend, according to

The team enters the tournament with a record of 30-6-4. Their semifinal opponent, Northeastern, comes in with a record of 22-13-5. They finished the season ranked 9th and 10th in the and USA Today polls, respectively.
