UND Dominates in Shutout for First Win of the Season
The Fighting Hawks used a 21-point second quarter to roll to a 34-0 victory over Missouri State in Grand Forks.
Keaton Studsrud threw for 273 yards and 2 touchdowns while Brady Oliveira rushed for 164 yards on just 16 carries as UND had their way with the Bears of Missouri State. UND's defense would also do their part allowing just 211 yards total, while forcing three Missouri State turnovers.
After a 25-yard field goal from Reid Taubenheim had UND out in front with a 3-0 lead entering the second quarter, the Flying Hawks used a 8-play, 55-yard drive, capped off by a 13-yard touchdown pass from Studsrud to Noah Wanzek to take a 10-0 lead. UND would then score on their next possession. This time, a 7-play, 80-yard drive that was finished off by another Wanzek touchdown reception from 3 yards out to make it 17-0.
Wanzek finished with 7 catches for 117 yards.
The Fighting Hawks still weren't done in the first half. After an interception from Ray Haas, UND used a short field to score two plays later when John Santiago ran in from 19 yards out to make it a 24-0 game. They would take that lead into halftime.
After another Taubenheim field goal, the Fighting Hawks got one more score from James Johannesson on a 19-yard run to finish off the scoring.
UND piled up 253 yards rushing to just 79 for Missouri State. Bears quarterback Peyton Huslig was just 12 of 23 for 132 yards passing and the one interception.
UND will travel to South Dakota next Saturday to take on the Coyotes at 2 p.m.
