Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles came up short when attempting to answer the call against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.

The Cowboys got 151 rushing yard from Ezekiel Elliott and 270 passing yard from Dak Prescott to overtake Carson Wentz and the Eagles 27-20 in Philadelphia.

With Dallas up 6-3, late in the first half, Prescott sneaked in a 1-yard touchdown to make it 13-3 at the half.

But the Eagles struck back in the third quarter. Down 13-6, Wentz hit Zach Ertz for a 15-yard touchdown to tie the game at 13-13.

In the fourth quarter, Dallas went ahead once more with a 7-yard touchdown run from Elliott to make it 20-13 with just under 12 minutes to play.

The Eagles would respond once again on the ensuing drive. After a long 51-yard pass from Wentz to Nelson Agholor to set the Eagles up at the 8-yard line, Philadelphia would score three plays later when Wentz hit Ertz on a 1-yard touchdown pass to make it 20-20.

But the Cowboys would drive right back down the field. With just 3:23 left in the game, it was Elliott once again from just a yard out to run it in for a touchdown that gave Dallas a 27-20 lead.

The lead would hold up and the Philadelphia Eagles dropped to 4-5.

Carson Wentz finished 32 of 44 for 360 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

The Eagles will go to New Orleans next weekend to take on the Saints (8-1) at 3:25 p.m. next Sunday afternoon.
