Another dangerous winter storm will bring yet another round of blizzard conditions to North Dakota.

It's been a while since I pulled an "all-nighter", but that's what I did last night so I could beat the blizzard back to Bismarck.  My son had never been to a Minnesota Wild/pro hockey game before, and we purposely picked this game in April thinking the winter weather would be over.  Wrong.  So, rather than get stuck for 3 days in Minneapolis, we drove back after a very late game Monday night from St. Paul to Bismarck in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

Other than a batch of freezing rain that we ran into from Valley City to Steele, which brought us some significantly slippery roads, it was a pretty smooth trip.  However, today will be anything but smooth for North Dakota travelers.

Blizzard Warnings have been issued for virtually the entire state of North Dakota with the exception of far western and northwest North Dakota.

The Blizzard Warning is in effect until 12 midnight Wednesday evening.  The snow is already flying over much of southeast and south central North Dakota.

Blizzard conditions are expected with total snow accumulations between 8 and 17 inches in Bismarck Mandan.

Locally higher amounts are possible.  Winds could gust as high as 55 miles per hour in south-central North Dakota.  The snow should increase in intensity in the Bismarck Mandan area as the day moves along.  Heavy snow is expected by Tuesday afternoon and the winds are expected to increase as well.

Restrict travel to emergencies only.  If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you and notify friends or family members of your travel plans.  If you do get stranded, stay with your vehicle.
