Breaking: Convicted Murderer, Chad Isaak, Dead In Prison

48-year-old Chad Isaak was found dead yesterday evening (July, 31st) at 5:44pm, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Cause Of Death

A joint statement was released by NDHP and the DOCR, indicating that officers had been called to the North Dakota State Penitentiary after a resident caused self-harm.

The resident was identified as Chad Isaak.

The statement details Isaak was taken to Sanford Hospital by ambulance, and pronounced dead at 6:24 PM.

Conviction & Appeal

Isaak was named as the primary suspect in a quadruple murder that took place in April of 2019. The victims worked for a local property management company, RJR Maintenance and Management.

Isaak was later convicted of the crime in 2021. He was sentenced to four-life sentences without possibility of parole.

At sentencing, Isaak was quoted saying,

"I'm not a murderer, and that's all I have to say."

Isaak was also in the process of appealing his murder conviction to the North Dakota Supreme Court.

According to Valley News Live, Isaak's attorney was to argue that some of his rights had been violated; his team claimed the court dismissed jurors without Isaak present, and had improperly limited public access to important documents such as autopsy photos.

Something else to note: This date nearly marks the one-year anniversary of the start of the trial.

Investigation

Authorities did not detail how Isaak took his own life. The incident is still currently under investigation by the North Dakota Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation and North Dakota Highway Patrol.
