Families in the Bismarck-Mandan area have a fun, hands-on family outing to look forward to this weekend. The Annual Teddy Roosevelt Family Day will take place at the McDowell Dam this Sunday, September 27, from 1 to 4:30 pm, and it's designed especially for kids ages 6 to 12.

What To Expect At Teddy Roosevelt Day

The event features 30 different activity stations where kids can try everything from fishing and casting to archery, tomahawk and spear throwing, paintball activities, boating, scuba, hiking, biking, and even shooting ranges. Local scouting groups like the Girl Scouts, Scouts America, and 4-H members will be on hand with information on how to get kids involved year-round.

Oh, and we haven't even mentioned that over eighteen different federal, state, county, NGOs, and private business experts will help make Teddy Roosevelt Family Day successful, safe, and fun.

Kids can also win prizes - The first nine hundred kids will get a free Teddy Roosevelt patch. They will also be giving out archery, BB gun shooting, fishing, and animal identification prizes. - We love prizes!

Why Is It Called 'Teddy Roosevelt Day'?

The event honors former President Teddy Roosevelt, who was said to have a great interest in our nation's youth. He wanted to keep them motivated and involved in all things outdoors. This hands-on event offers that to North Dakota kids.

Take your kids and find out what they love about the North Dakota outdoors, enjoy the first official weekend of Fall, and swing by our radio station's table. - We'll be there broadcasting live, giving out prizes.
