The holidays are a time for reunions, and in Salinas, California, an unusual -- and wholly unexpected -- reunion occurred.

Lynda Alsip was devastated when her 1967 Mustang went missing in 1986, just a year after she got it.

Alsip purchased the forest green classic for $800 when she was just 17.

The car, long since fallen off the automobile grid, resurfaced suddenly when a man tried to register the car at a Salinas Department of Motor Vehicles recently -- after having possession of it for 23 years.

Authorities are investigating whether or not the man knew the vehicle was stolen. In the meantime, Alsip is ecstatic to finally have her baby back.
