Carson Wentz to Donate to Charity of Eagles Kicker Jake Elliott’s Choice
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz and kicker Jake Elliott are doing some good with Wentz's proverbial 'game check.'
In the final moments before Elliott's 61-yard game-winning field goal with no time remaining to beat the Giants, Wentz said, "I'll give him my game check if he makes this."
Wentz knew he had been mic'd up for the game and didn't think about it until afterwards, but then sent the video to Elliott the following morning. After a discussion, Wentz and Elliott decided to put the money owed to good use.
Wentz's salary for any given week out of the year comes to $31,765 (unlike our previous theory for a 'game check'). That money will go to a charity of Elliott's choice. The kicker was quoted in an interview with ESPN's Tim McManus, "We'll give back as much as we can," said Elliott.
Wentz followed up with a statement along the same lines as Elliott:
That's kind of why we have this platform, why we play this game, and I never lose sleep over helping others.
At the time of this story, the charity of Elliott's choosing has yet-to-be-determined.
