Danger: An Alarming Amount Of North Dakota Drivers Do This
Driving in North Dakota is dangerous on a normal day. People don't use turn signals, they run red lights, and the roads tend to be icy.
Driving around town lately, I noticed many North Dakota drivers weren't doing something, and it's honestly baffling.
One of the essential rules of driving is being broken in our state, and we should bring attention to it.
You Have Them, Use Them
If it is dark, foggy, raining, or a combination of all three, you should have your headlights on. I pass people all the time with them off and it's a headscratcher. Like, bro... how do you even see?
It's even worse when you drive a dark blue or silver car; It's almost like you're trying to cause an accident.
Many cars come with the auto feature, which makes it even more confusing. Did you go out of your way to turn them off? I'm confused.
If you drive around town without headlights, I assume you are either doing a drug deal or you're a cop trying to catch someone doing a drug deal.
Speaking of cops, in North Dakota you are required to drive with your headlights on from sunset to sunrise and also in inclement weather. Failure to do so can/will result in a ticket.
The Danger
According to a crash summary put together by the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) and VisionZero.nd.gov, last year (2023), 106 people died in car crashes in the state of North Dakota.
Let's do our best to drive safely and get that number down. Let us drive with all the common sense possible. Please and thank you.
