According to sources, Nick Foles will be the Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback for Week 1 of the NFL season as Carson Wentz continues to progress from last year's season-ending injury.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that Foles will get the nod over Wentz in the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday, September 6th as the Eagles are being cautious with their young quarterback.

Despite the fact that Week 1 was Wentz's target date for his return from injury, the Eagles are certainly not taking any risks with their franchise quarterback. The move isn't all too surprising given that Wentz did not take part in any preseason games.

Wentz has yet to be cleared for contact with the opening game just days away.
