What Happened At Bismarck’s Petco Store
It's not often that we get fires in downtown Bismarck, and if we ever do, it's typically a house fire, not a business up in flames.
Sadly, many people reported that they saw several firetrucks and police cars respond to a fire at Bismarck's Petco. This is not to be confused with the PetSmart store that sits near Lowes in North Bismarck. The Petco store affected sits off of S 7th street, by the Kirkwood Mall.
Authorities responded to the fire and closed off the surrounding roads for a short time.
The Kirkwood Mall made a post on Facebook, stating the following.
"Authorities have cleared the scene and the road surrounding Petco has reopened. Petco is currently closed for business."
The post also said they would update us on when Petco plans to reopen.
Injuries & Extent of Damage
We haven't been told if any humans or animals were injured in the fire, and we also don't know what started it.
We drove by the Petco building at 2 pm and did not see any physical damage to the outside of the store. The doors were open, and the parking lot was blocked off. There was a heating and air truck parked outside, leaving one to speculate that the heating and cooling system could be part of what caused the problem.
Whether or not there is damage to the inside of the store is unclear at this time.
**UPDATE**
The roads have since been reopened, though the Petco store is closed today.
We will let you know if any other information is provided in the coming days. Check back on this post for updates.
