Even though pretty much the entire world has suffered the affects of this 2020 pandemic, there are still those selflessly looking to help others. There are kids in our community who may not have access to food outside of school. A group of local businesses is working to make sure Bismarck-Mandan kids are fed.

Some local breweries have come together to raise money for a good cause. According to KFYR-TV, there is a friendly competition happening among local breweries to raise money for hungry kids. The competition is called Crosstown Brewdown.

KFYR-TV is reporting that Bismarck Brewing Company, Bird Dog, Dialectic, Gideon's, and Buffalo Commons are all participating. According to the news station, this is how the competition works: "Five breweries make the same type of beer each month to see who sells more. Proceeds go to the United Way Backpack Program." Get more details on the story here.

According to the United Way's website, the Backpack Program is set up to give kids access to food they might not otherwise have outside of school. There are numerous ways you can help United Way get food to kids. The website suggests donating money, sponsoring a food drive, or volunteering. Find out more about United Way's Backpack Program here.

The other way you can help in Bismarck-Mandan, is by buying the beer at one of the five breweries participating. KFYR-TV says that the promotional beer flavor is yet to be revealed, but that the one last month was a hit with the customers.
