Gas Prices Rapidly Rising Across Bismarck and North Dakota

If you happened to fill up recently or noticed a gas price sign while driving today, you probably noticed gas is up ANOTHER 10 cents in Bismarck and Mandan.

The current price for a gallon of gas is now $3.29 a gallon.

All I can do is shake my head and try to prepare myself for another punishing year at the pump.  What's scary is January is supposed to be a time when gas prices hold steady before the inevitable spring price hike.

We've had a steady rise in prices over the last several weeks since we finally went below the $3.00 threshold for a very brief time in late December at $2.99.  Since then, gas prices have gone up by a dime every week and now here we stand at $3.29.

So, what are we looking at for gas prices come Memorial Day weekend and the summertime period when we typically bend over at the pump?

According to the Capitol website, the EIA's prediction is for fuel retail prices to average around $3.51 a gallon during the spring/summer peak of driving.  That's down from when we saw near $4.00 gas prices during summer driving last year.

Gas Buddy, another reputable site, and an article on USA Today are predicting about the same price this summer to peak at $3.49.

I hope they're right.  As somebody who lives to hunt and fish in North Dakota, it sure makes it hard to justify travel anywhere when your paying $4.00 dollars or better at the pump.

What are the current gas prices around North Dakota currently?

The cheapest gas in North Dakota right now according to AAA is on the eastern side of the state.  Fargo is paying around $3.07 a gallon.  The most expensive gas can be found in McIntosh County.  Places like Ashley are already paying $3.79 a gallon.  YIKES.
