From Disney Star to Superstar: How Jenna Ortega Took Over Hollywood

If you thought Jenna Ortega was just another Disney Channel alum, think again.

The Stuck in the Middle star quickly became one of Hollywood's go-to actresses.

Ortega has been lighting up the small screen thanks to her breakout role in the smash hit series Wednesday.

Netflix recently announced that Wednesday Season 2 will hit the streaming giant later this year.

Ortega gained recognition starring as a younger Jane in the CW series Jane the Virgin, however, it was her leading role as Harley Diaz in the Disney Channel series Stuck in the Middle that proved she was a bona fide TV star.

Ditching the Disney sparkle, Ortega has quickly become a horror heroine with starring roles in Scream, Scream VI, X, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Wednesday.

Not Just a Scream Queen

The Hollywood star is eyeing a career behind the camera. While promoting The Weekend's new film, Hurry Up Tomorrow, Ortega revealed that she is setting out to direct her own movie.

Despite having a producing credit on Wednesday, Ortega told V Magazine that she is planning on directing a script that she's been working on for 10 years.

"It’s weird because it’s something that I thought of when I was younger and when I first started out in this field, and it’s only now that I’m actually starting to take the steps to get it made, which is really interesting," she told the outlet.
